Evernight: The Dying of the Light
Dyrinak is a small fishing village located in the Red Swamp. It had a population of 50 souls before the events of Jason’s Folly. Now only 29 remain. Dyrinak has 18 remaining huts, and a defensive wall of spiked logs. 12 fishing boats are moored up at the make-shift dock. 6 of the boats are privately owned and 6 are owned by the community and used on a rotating basis by the rest of the families. It is the home of Janus Strang.
Dyrinak is an all-but self-sustaining community. The people here do most of their own fishing, make most of their own tools, and protect themselves from the occasional threat. However, when resources are low, the people send out loads of fish to Keep Redspar in exchange for metal, food ingredients and other items they cannot make on their own.
The population of Dyrinak is fiercely independent, and detests having to ask for help from outsiders. But the events of Jason’s Folly have shaken this independence and they are considering petitioning Lord Redspar to put a small detachment of soldiers in their area to help them if anything like the attacks of the trogs occurs again.
